Another Major Milestone: GreenRock Forms International Consortium to Win Malaysian National Solar Project, Targeting 1GW Capacity
GreenRock Energy forms international consortium to secure Malaysian national solar project
Taipei, Taiwan — Taiwan-based renewable energy leader GreenRock Energy has secured another international breakthrough as it continues its global expansion. Following its successful entry into the Vietnamese market, GreenRock has now partnered with leading Taiwanese and Malaysian companies to win a Malaysian national-scale renewable energy tender, underscoring the global competitiveness and growth potential of Taiwan’s green energy industry.
GreenRock joined forces with Chailease Holding, Taiwan’s leading solar system investment group, Servex, a Malaysian subsidiary of the Acer Group, and a subsidiary of Solarvest Holdings Berhad, a Malaysian-listed solar energy company. Together, the partners established an international investment fund and formed a cross-border consortium that successfully secured the national project in Malaysia.
The project is located in Selangor State, Malaysia, and involves the development of a 60 MW floating solar photovoltaic power plant, with a total installed capacity of 70 MWp. The facility is expected to generate approximately 104 million kWh of green electricity annually, supplying renewable energy to hundreds of thousands of households. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027, marking a significant milestone in GreenRock Energy’s long-term presence in Malaysia.
GreenRock Energy Chairman Meng-Heng Yeh stated:
“Beyond actively participating in national-scale tenders, the company is advancing on three parallel fronts—CPPA projects, energy storage tenders, and rooftop solar investments. Our goal is to achieve 1GW of total capacity in the future, strengthen our international competitiveness, and further deepen our footprint across Southeast Asia.”
Leveraging its strong system integration capabilities and extensive localized expertise, GreenRock combined forces with Chailease’s financial and leasing solutions and Acer Group’s technological strengths. This cross-sector international consortium significantly enhances project development efficiency and execution accuracy, fully demonstrating the advantages of global collaboration.
Looking ahead, GreenRock Energy will continue to focus on national-scale tenders while simultaneously launching rooftop solar projects for Taiwanese enterprises operating in Malaysia. These initiatives aim to provide comprehensive energy solutions for widely distributed industrial facilities, helping businesses reduce energy costs and accelerate progress toward carbon neutrality through solar power generation.
GreenRock Energy noted that Taiwanese enterprises have established a strong industrial presence in Malaysia. The rooftop solar initiative will not only lower operating costs for local businesses but also increase the adoption of renewable energy across the region, serving as a key driver of the energy transition.
With national-scale projects and rooftop solar developments serving as dual growth engines, GreenRock Energy plans to expand its Southeast Asian footprint and amplify its impact in the green energy sector. Looking toward 2025, the company aims to develop a total of 2GW of renewable energy capacity across Southeast Asia and Japan, steadily advancing toward its vision of becoming a leading international renewable energy enterprise by delivering solutions that balance environmental sustainability with economic value.
