GreenRock Energy Expands Overseas Footprint, Enters Vietnam with 1GW Mega-Scale Solar Development Target

GreenRock Energy has achieved further success in expanding its renewable energy operations across Southeast Asia, securing significant progress in Vietnam. The company is targeting the development of a mega-scale solar project totalling 1GW, encompassing both floating and ground-mounted solar installations. This project is expected to supply electricity to a prominent 3C group, with collaboration structured through two models: Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPA) and Direct Power Purchase Agreements (DPPA).
GreenRock Energy advances into Vietnam, targeting the development of a 1GW ultra-large-scale solar project encompassing both floating and ground-mounted solar installations. The company is currently negotiating cooperation agreements with local power utilities, with the anticipated future supply of electricity to a prominent 3C group. Other ongoing projects include the Hanoi Industrial Zone solar initiative, which will install rooftop solar systems across factory buildings within the zone. Spanning over 20 hectares, the project boasts an installed capacity of 20MW. The GreenRock team tailors optimal power generation planning and energy management strategies based on diverse roof structures and clients' electricity consumption patterns. Demonstrating exceptional expertise in design and technical management throughout the project, it integrates EMS energy management systems with grid integration technology to deliver comprehensive smart energy solutions.
The Vietnamese government formally approved the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) in July this year, with foreign enterprises in Vietnam expressing optimism about the prospects for corporate sustainability driven by the DPPA. Green Rock Energy responded to the market with a flexible and rapid mechanism, seizing the initiative. Chairman Ye Mengheng stated: ‘Vietnam's green energy market holds immense potential. Green Rock's early strategic positioning will lay a solid foundation for the company's long-term regional development. Our team's innovative technical design capabilities enable flexible solar PV system configurations even for complex project requirements, ensuring maximised energy production while elevating grid stability and power efficiency to new heights.’ Chairman Ye Mengheng has identified this wave of energy opportunities, advancing green electricity supply plans in the Vietnamese market through the DPPA model while assisting local Taiwanese businesses in securing energy autonomy. Green Rock Energy Vice President Tsai Yida added: ‘These rooftop photovoltaic systems not only meet the green electricity demands of major local consumers, including Taiwanese and foreign enterprises, but also contribute to achieving Vietnam's industrial zone energy efficiency improvements and carbon reduction targets.’
