GreenRock and Yijing Facilitate New Chapter in Taiwan-US Green Energy Cooperation
【15 March 2023, Economic Daily News, Reporter Weng Yongquan】Taiwanese green energy giant GreenRock Energy, in collaboration with partner Easy Crystal Green Energy Systems, jointly facilitated a trade mission visit to Taiwan by Calexico City, California. This landmark event was hosted by GreenRock Energy, with Easy Crystal Green Energy responsible for inviting the US delegation – marking a first for Taiwan. Specialising in solar photovoltaic EPC, Yijing GreenEnergy is a key strategic partner holding a 17% stake in GreenRock Energy. It has actively participated in GreenRock's recent large-scale aquaculture-integrated solar and energy storage projects, jointly pursuing international opportunities. This year will see new strategic deployments in Japan and the United States.
GreenRock Energy Chairman Ye Mengheng stated that a Japanese subsidiary will be established shortly, with assessments underway for multiple sites including Hokkaido. Given Japan's termination of its feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme for solar PV, priority will be given to early-stage projects eligible for FIT, considering risk, development timelines, and return on investment. These may involve investment or joint ownership by a subsidiary of British Petroleum. This follows the oil giant's earlier entry into Taiwan's green energy sector through Green Rock. On 20 February, GreenRock hosted a business delegation from Calexico, California, USA. The ten-day itinerary included visits to three project sites in Chiayi, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung, culminating in a briefing session on the 24th.
